Qasr Al Sarab

More pics from the trip to Qasr Al Sarab resort in UAE and the UN meeting. Me in the sand is taken 50 feet from the front door of the villa I was housed in. The picture of what looks like a village in the distant desert is actually the "Royal Pavillion" which is detached from the resort. Yup, one facility just for those who can really afford privacy and an entourage. The darker image is the night we had dinner out in the desert and this is the after dinner smoke under the stars. Then there is the obligatory work photo to show it wasn't all fun and games in the sand.

Qasr Al Sarab

So, two weeks ago I was in a $15 a night hotel in the Mekong Delta region of Vietnam. This week it's a villa with private pool and patio at a five star resort in the Liwa Desert, situated in The Empty Quarter region outside Abu Dhabi. HUGE difference! I'm enjoying it while it lasts...
These are some of the views from my patio. The resort is built to resemble an old Arab desert fort. All the buildings in the pictures are the hotel. Very swish.

The view from my hotel the other day in Abu Dhabi, overlooking the Grand Mosque.

Long Xuyen

This is the night market in Long Xuyen, Vietnam. We were the only foreigners in sight.
