Port of Spain
Trinidad and Tobago - a two island nation of 1.3 million people who have recorded 95 homicides January 1 to March 24 this year (down from last year) and 41 traffic deaths. Not exactly an island paradise! Oh, and no speed enforcement on the highway. None. Road rules appear optional.
Low 30's C each day. Lovely people. Unfortunately in our two weeks here we have seen the airport (5:00 am arrival), the hotel in Port of Spain and the highway south an hour to the client plant site. That's it. Working every day and we've seen Trinidad through windows. No time to get out. The pictures tell the story.
The south end of the island is 7 miles from Venezuela, and there are apparently lovely beaches on the north end. Not that we got to see any of this. I did see the pictures in the in-room magazine.
Morning flight home tomorrow. Should be able to knock off work mid afternoon today and get out to see a bit of the city. Maybe even see a beach. Maybe.
